Okay, I'm back. Let's see, writing? I haven't been writing as much as I could. However, I attended a great workshop Gordy Hoffman led at Creative Studios of Atlanta. I submitted Denied, which is the script for the short I'm producing. The workshop was outstanding, and the feedback from Gordy and everyone who attended was very beneficial! We laughed, we applauded, and we beat the living daylights out of each other's work. Of course I need to tweak a few things; only one of the eleven attendees got my story. My homework assignment is Chinatown, and I'm not sure Gordy will ever be my passenger again :-/
Overall it was an awesome experience, and I'm excited the script I'm producing is getting surprisingly good feedback. There's just one last person I want to analyze the script, and I plan to send it off next week. I was a little unsure what the limit is on how many people should analyze a script, and figured three is the max. Well my confidence was assured when I heard Paul Chitlik give three as the maximum during his interview on IUH.
Alright, the short I'm producing. I really want to make this film. I believe it will engage the viewer's heightened sensitivity, and pull creative talent out of the filmmakers. So far I've been blessed to get a group of professional filmmakers willing to negotiate to crew up for the project. My biggest challenge is the budget. Since launching our crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo, I've dedicated most of my energy to attracting supporters and contributors. My friends are showing support by spreading the word and making contributions. As a matter of fact, I just sent a text to over 60 of my mobile phone contacts. I set up a Denied Twitter page, a Facebook page, and a Facebook Event - Social Media, it's cyberspace marketing.
Okay, writing. I'm working on tackling another feature script that I put down a while ago - read back a few blogs, you'll know which one I'm talking about. Here's my approach, enjoy a balance between my exciting roles as a filmmaker and technologist as I pursue success by Faith in the things I love to do the most.
Happy Writing,
/GM
