Bandwidth…

is usually equated with technology. In it’s simplest definition, bandwidth is the amount of data that a communication channel can carry in a given period of time. Because of my career in complex technology, I tend to think and/or analogize in technical terms. So I wondered whether I have the “bandwidth” to do all that I desire to do: in other words, how much can I do right now?

When I began my Script Adventure, I didn’t expect that my responsibilities would grow as quickly as they have. Between work and school, I’m slammed. Still, my deepest passion is Screenwriting/Producing for the Kingdom. So I had a moment (just a moment) when I thought, “Can I do all this?” That was immediately followed by the answer, “All things are possible to [them] that believe.” (Mark 9:23)

Okay, enough introspect, what about screenwriting?

I’m happy to report that I recently wrote a five-minute skit for a project I’m working on, and the team I’m working with really enjoys it. We’re performing it this weekend – I play a principal character. Know this, as a filmmaker, there’s going to come a time when you’ll have to get in front of the camera. So get your act together… HA! In an effort to balance everything I have my hands on, I’m beginning to sense a re-write mode coming on which well bring me back to the two features I’ve written, and the other two that are still in me… right now. The balance is coming as I fit my responsibilities into a disciplined schedule. I don’t like to think I’m juggling, rather I’m balancing: servanthood, school, fitness, and my job. On the producing front, I was able to reconnect with a dear friend who I consider family and who is investing talent in to the short film project: I’m really excited about what we’re doing so far and the places it will take us.

Fundraising is going as well as expected – I’m executing a phased process that integrates social media. I just checked our YouTube Channel and we’re at 596 channel views since we launched our "broadcast" – yesterday was a month to the date. For me that’s “going viral”… HA! The idea is to use YouTube to engage supporters, and we will continue to use it that way. As I consider ways to locate funds… wait, side bar here. I was talking to my brother recently, and he said something that really resonated with me, especially because of the type of person I am – BTW, he’s my BFF. To paraphrase, he said, focus on filling gaps between family and friends. Makes so much sense right? With a $10K budget, and a four-month timeline, I must connect with the deep pockets within my circle of influence who are interested in advancing the Kingdom. And so, phase deux begins.

Happy Writing,
/GM

Writing is rewriting until it’s written!
